Angela & Joe - Venue at the Grove Wedding

Today I wanted to share Angela and Joe's wedding, it is WAY over due as we worked with them in 2013 but it was too good not to share. Angela was the true definition of a  DIY bride. She had a vision and she went to work to make it happen, we were so lucky that she chose (and trusted) us to execute her vision on the big day. Most of her details she made or purchased herself and handed over a FULL SUV full (plus more) of things for us to set up on wedding day. We had so much fun working with this couple and making Angela's vision come to life for her while she drank champagne and got her hair done! Check out the lovely photos from La Bella Vita Photography and all these sweet details!

Haley & Mike

Haley and Mike were such a fun and unique couple to work with! The Ritz was a perfect venue to display their style and taste, that portrayed their love for one another. Every detail of their wedding was enjoyable to plan from start to finish! The friends and family that surrounded them completely encompassed that "Love is All you Need." The color scheme, the AMAZING linens, her HAIR, we loved everything about this wedding, this couple and these great images from Harrison Hurwitz Photographer. tatoo brideritz groom

Elise & Tamim - Omni Resort at Montelucia Wedding

Even though Elise and Tamim's wedding was last fall, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to post some of their photos here on our blog. Not only does Kimberly Jarman Photography capture some amazing shots, but Elise was such a beautiful bride that these images have a classic beauty to them that you don't see everyday. To top it off, we had a fantastic crew of vendors to work with and everything turned out stunning from ceremony to reception and every detail in between!1127_SultaniBarneyW_0609KJ1118_SultaniBarneyW_0024KJ1119_SultaniBarneyW_0052KJ1120_SultaniBarneyW_0141KJ1122_SultaniBarneyW_0166KJ1123_SultaniBarneyW_0414KJ1131_SultaniBarneyW_0971KJ

Tammie & Jim - Private Residence Wedding, Lake Havasu

A few weeks ago, Stephanie and I (Cara) packed up the Yukon with chargers, cake, and our bags and we headed to Lake Havasu. It was our first wedding in the fine city of Havasu and although we didn't touch a boat (or anything Lake related), we did have a fabulous time working with Tammie and Jim on their wedding. It was such a personal event for them and we loved how everything turned out. The event took place at their newly built home and every detail was just beautiful, from her dress, to the flowers to the cake, it reflected Tammie's romantic style and the Lake backdrop did not disappoint. It was such a special day! Check out the photos from NVS Photography! Congratulations Jim and Tammie, we were so happy to be a part of your celebration!bridePutnam-1022Putnam-1029Putnam-1044Putnam-1052Putnam-1127Putnam-1163Putnam-1239Putnam-1285Putnam-1278Putnam-1305Putnam-1309Putnam-1312Putnam-1316Putnam-1323Putnam-1328Putnam-1407Putnam-1428Putnam-1435Putnam-1439Putnam-1454Putnam-1500Putnam-1514 Photography: NVS Photography | Venue: Private Residence | Planning and Coordination: A Day to Cherish | Catering: Cha Bones | Flowers: Interior Garden Florals Unique | DJ: Ray the DJ | Dress: Maggie Sottero from Schaeffers Bridal | Linens: LaTavola | Chargers: EventRents | Chair Covers: Wildflower Linens | Chairs: Classic Party Rentals | Invitations: Christy Kaiser | Cake: Classic Cakes and Confections | Photobooth: Grins2Go

Alisha & Mitch - Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain Wedding

What can I say about Mitch and Alisha's wedding. Alisha is one of those people that just has a fantastic spirit. She has the best smile, a great attitude and she lives each moment to the fullest. The two of them together were just a great couple and the entire event was a blast.  It was such a huge blessing to be a part of their big day, and boy, do I mean BIG (almost 30 people in the bridal party!). Jennifer Bowen Photography provided us with some fantastic shots and just a glimpse into the fun and special day we got to share with them.

Kacey & Jeff - El Chorro Wedding

We had such a fun day at Jeff and Kacey's wedding this spring at El Chorro.  Not only do we LOVE working at El Chorro, but Petal Pushers did a fantastic job on creating exactly the look what Jeff and Kacey were looking for with their floral. The images below by Pinkerton Photography reflect not only the gorgeous setting, but the sweet playfulness between Jeff and Kacey is reflected so well in these photos! We just loved working with these two and both of their families! What a great group of people to work with! We were honored to be a part of their special day!

Emily & Ryan - Private Residence Wedding

Last year, I had the absolute pleasure of being hired by Ryan and Emily to coordinate their wedding. They were just a great couple, their sense of humor was unique, their relationship was special and I just really enjoyed getting to know them both. Emily had a specific taste for exactly what she wanted for her wedding and it was a great reflection of their lifestyle, personalities and taste. It was so fun to execute something with a bit of bold color, clean lines and a huge attention to food, drink and macaroons!

Lindsey & Mark - Different Pointe of View

Lindsey & Mark

A Different Pointe of View

February 25th, 2014

A few weeks ago, we had the absolute pleasure of working with Lindsey and Mark on their wedding day. Being a destination wedding, we could not have ASKED for better weather and the views from both ceremony and reception were breathtaking. When I first saw Lindsey's Pintrest, the first thing I noticed was that she loved things hanging from the ceiling, flowers, draping, candles, you name it. So, of course, we had the chance to work with Avant Garde to create a one of a kind candle chandelier over the dance floor, what a statement piece! It was a great day with a couple that has a lot of love and support around them, we were so proud to be a part of it and we can't thank our awesome lineup of vendors enough for making this a huge success!

Moschino Offers Sweet Military Chic

Is Bridesmaid Dresses An Important Part In A Christian Wedding? During the late 1940s, designer Christian Dior introduced the very feminine "New Look" and greatly influenced 1950s evening wear. This is also a great solution when the bridesmaids have very different figures; the bridesmaid with the supermodel figure can twist her dress into a halter with an open back, while the ladies who prefer more coverage can arrange their dresses to have wider straps and higher backs.

You can wear the cocktail dresses 2015 with several types of different accessories like earrings, necklaces, and shoes as well even make up plays a very crucial role to enhance the overall look of your body type or personality as well.

Say Your 'Goodbyes' to Boring Exercise

We sent our intern, Allison, out on a little fitness research and asked her to blog about her findings. Enjoy!!

We all know that a bride wants to look her absolute best on her wedding day and for many that may mean losing weight and/or toning up! I don't know about you, but sometimes the gym trips can get a little stale, so I've set out on a mission to try out new things to mix up your workout routine.

1. FLYoga - Aerial Yoga @ Ra-Yoga in Phoenix, AZ

This is one of my new favorite things! Aerial yoga uses silk slings that hang from the ceiling to allow yogis to do several inversion poses that would take YEARS of practice to perfect in a regular studio. If you've ever seen the silk acrobats at the Cirque Du Soleil, it's kind of like that. And it's not as hard as it sounds! It's a killer core workout and all the inverted poses are very energizing! Also, the inversion poses decompress your spine and with a regular practice, you can gain as much as an inch in heigh! To top it off, the studio itself is amazing in its humanitarian efforts. Each class is offered for free with the hopes that you'll donate to which all the proceeds go to non-profit organizations. $5 is the recommended dontation. Where else can you find such a fun exercise class for so cheap? Ra also sells apparel, which is all organic and American-made.

2. Pole Fitness - Fitness to Nutrition in Tempe, AZ

I just tried my first pole fitness class this week thanks to a wonderful Living Social deal of 3 classes for $29. A drop in class at Fitness to Nutrition is usually $20, which is actually considerably cheaper than other pole studios in the Valley. They constantly have deals on their classes too, so watch out on Groupon, Living Social, Amazon Local, and the like. The intro class is so incredibly fun! Everyone in the room has fun with it and no one takes themselves too seriously. Really, it's okay to laugh at yourself for trying so hard to be sexy; that's a reason this would make a great bachelorette party! Everyone is goofing around, while getting a great upper body workout! The intro class teaches pole safety, conditioning exercises, and most exciting - spins! It's actually not nearly as hard as it seems like it would be and if you want to take it to the next level and learn climbs and inversions, you can sign up for a series after just a few beginner classes. And really, what sort of groom wouldn't LOVE a pole dancing bride?

3. Exercise on Vacation!

It's summertime and you're bound to go out of town at least once, but don't fuss about squeezing in gym time while on vacation. I brought my running shoes with me to Minnesota this month and never found a spare second to go for a run. INSTEAD, I focused on doing activities with my friends and family that would incorporate a workout. Spending all afternoon on the lake could have been wasted sunbathing, but instead I kicked up the activity by swimming, wake-boarding, and kayaking. When you are on vacation, there are tons of options for fun ways to get fit. Headed to the beach? Schedule a surfing lesson. The mountains? Take a hike, or hit the slopes in the winter. When I was in San Francisco recently, my boyfriend and I rented a tandem bike and rode across the Golden Gate Bridge! Not only was it a great way to see the sites, but it simultaneously gave us 2 hours of exercise ON TOP of all the walking around we did at Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf.

The best way to keep your workouts from getting stale and to stop your progress from plateauing is to mix it up and TRY NEW THINGS! Now get out there and sign up for that boxing class you've been eyeing or the trapeze lessons you've always been interested in testing out! You're bound to work out new, different muscles and tone up!

There's an App for That

Appy Couple

For all our tech savvy brides, we have a fun idea for you! Heck, you don’t actually even need to be that tech savvy. A couple months back, we learned about Appy Couple! It’s just like a wedding website, where you can upload your wedding info – date, time, where you’re registered, bios, RSVP, etc., ONLY it makes your very own personalized iPhone or Android app. It’s easy to set up (though an invite is required . . . and easily obtained via e-mail) and there are lots of options for theme customization, then it’s on to the really fun stuff. You can upload photos and set event themes and colors. And the app even has a picture slider game, wedding countdown, and a champagne toast bulletin board where guests can upload their happy wishes for the couple! Guests can also add pictures from their own collections to the bride and groom’s albums or listen to songs from the various wedding celebrations – ceremony, bachelorette party, bridal shower, etc! It’s a fun and unique way to put your own spin on the newly traditional wedding website (which it co-creates), while incorporating technology that is on-the-go, just like a busy bride like you.

I am so absolutely excited to share these images! This spring, we had the opportunity to work with Alexis and John on thier wedding day. The first thing I can say is, Oh My Goodness, the dress! She had the most gorgeous Vera Wang gown and looked absolutely striking! The entire event from start to finish was a huge success. We are so so taken by the great images that were captured by CA photographers White Haute we just couldn't wait to share!

It's True! I'm Blogging! Jessie & Avi's wedding...

So, it has obviously been awhile since I did a blog. OK, more than awhile. A Day to Cherish had our busiest fall wedding season ever, some major changes over the winter and another busy spring of amazing events. We have truly had some of the most wonderful weddings in the last 8 months and clients that I can't rave about enough. Wedding days are LONG days for us, but when you just love the couple....and even the entire family you are working with, it doesn't seem like work!

This is part of the reason I am so motivated to blog! Jessie and Avi were just one of those couples. Despite a last minute weather change to move the ceremony for almost 250 guests indoors, this was one of the most fun weddings of the spring! We loved the whole theme of the wedding, using Tangles as centerpieces and decor to tie into the abstract and artsy style of the Phoenix Art Museum all the way down to one of the BEST parties I have seen at a wedding. The Shining Star Band kept the ENTIRE crowd on thier feet until the last song and these amazing images from Stuart at Eyes 2 See Photography capture the mood, tradition, warmth and just plain fun of the entire day. It was such a pleasure for us to be a part of this wedding and work with a rockstar crew of vendors!

Meet Cara!

Not only has it been to long since I blogged, but also since I introduced another of our staff memebers. So here we go....let me introduce Cara, our Planning Manager! Cara handles many of the day to day tasks for A Day to Cherish. Being busy is easier for her than being bored, she is a list maker and nothing feels better to her than crosssing things off the list! In addition to being fully involved in weddings and A Day to Cherish, Cara sets aside a small part of her day to Coach high school track and cross country as well! Enjoy learning a bit more about her from our staff questionnaire!

Favorite...I wish I could pick one. Or say I was one of those people that never watches TV, but I can't! Mostly just indulgent reality TV ....:)

Favorite movie?

Again, so hard to choose! It depends on my mood. I have probably seen Dirty Dancing more than any other movie in my life (I hope I didn't just date myself) but I love Meet Joe Black, 500 and Sex and the City (the first one...not so much the second)

Well, famous to me, yes. I have met several professional runners: Michael Johnson, Suzy Favor, a few others. But most people probably don't think of them as famous.

What word do you catch yourself saying a lot?

Um, I wish I could just never say that again. I also say "are you serious?!?" probably everyday.

What is the last book you read?

Skipping a Beat - great book.

If you could own 5 houses anywhere in the world, where would they be?

Lincoln, Nebraska (that is where my family is)

If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?

Sex and the City

Who would you most like to be stuck in an elevator with?

Probably my friend Kelly, she would just shrug it off and we could hang out and catch up. No offense to my husband but I might strangle him, he would freak out!

Featured Wedding - Darrelyn and Brent

This spring was a lot of fun for A Day to Cherish. It was our busiest spring yet, we did our first San Diego wedding, a furniture store wedding, and some of the more fun and different design ideas we have had the chance to incorporate. One of those was the wedding of Brent and Darrelyn at Blackstone Country Club. Darrelyn had an amazing vision of what she wanted her wedding to be and with the help of Designs by Design we were able to create an elegant and stunning environment for the April celebration. Leave it to Marnee at Marriott photography to capture the moments, the design and the mood perfectly! Enjoy some of our favorites!

Arizona Weddings Magazine

Featured Wedding - Liza & Peter

Back in April, Aleasha and I spent a wonderful day coordination the wedding of Liza & Peter at the Montelucia. Liza and Peter have the cutest story about how they met and are genuinely fun and classy people to be around. Liza came to us as a referal from one of our wonderful past clients (Thank you Melissa!) and we were so glad to have her as one of our brides. The staff at the Montelucia was outstanding and Easton Ashe provided a great night of music and dancing! What could top off a great night like this but a Julia Baker cake!  Check out some of these adorable photos from Mandy at Images by Reed. Please make a special note of the most amazing wedding shoes I have ever seen, Liza HAND bejeweled these herself!! Wow. Congratulations to Liza and Peter, you guys were great!
